Chickens

OK, so I must be totally crazy!

I don't know from whence this impulse has come, but suddenly I have a laughable desire to raise some chickens. I just think it would be so neat.

Upon approaching David about the topic he said I would have to read up on how to take care of chickens before he would even consider it. Over to the library I went! I picked up two books, one of which is entitled "Hen and the Art of Chicken Maintenance: Reflections on Chickens", by Martin Gurdon. Man is it hilarious!! I've only read one chapter so far, in which the author describes his first attempts at chicken farming. I can't wait to finish the book, and I can't wait to have some chickens!!!

had you been thinking about this for a while or did it just come to you one day. All of sudden you thought hmmm...might be cool to raise some chickens! Sounds like fun. Goodluck convincing your husband!

I can't wait to hear more of this endeavor! I'll totally buy some chickens off of you when you get your little chicken farm going! ;-)

I think it had been bouncing around my subconscious ever since I found out that one of the previous owners had a chicken coup off of one of the sheds on our property. The idea has bounced around so much that it has set off desires for pygmy goats. I must be insane!!! Hee hee

When I was about 17 I helped clean used chicken mats. It was not nice AT ALL. I got paid next to nothing for power spraying chicken crap that was an inch deep (previous owner not that big on poultry hygiene I guess). Don't get too many, and if you do clean them out more than once a year!
